The best school of manners is the school of Christ. The best culture is heart culture. To be a Christian in the fullest sense is to be a gentleman or a lady of the highest type. The world’s standards are worldly; the Beatitudes give the heavenly standard, which is infinitely better.
“Let the old life be coved by the new,
The old, old part, so full of sad mistakes;
Let it be wholly hidden from our view
By deeds as white and silent as snowflakes,
Ere the earth life melt in the eternal spring.
Let the white mantle of repentance fling
Soft drapery about it, fold on fold,
Even as the new snow covers up the old.”
